Living in Lockdown…STILL

Well, we are still here and it may seem for many that there is no light at the end of the tunnel…well, I say take a torch and light that bad boy up! As I said in my previous post, this doesn’t have to be a bleak time and should be a chance for everyone to learn something new and further your craft.

I found my self pondering this very thought earlier today and how lucky I have been over this period, so, I wanted to share what has actually been going on recently with me.

Quarantine Connection – Behind Closed Doors

Like a lot of my recent work, this started on Facebook. I saw a post from an MC in India who was looking for musicians and producers from all around the world to collaborate on an album. So, I very sheepishly dropped Femcee Frosty a message offering some live drums. She said yes and the next thing I know, I’ve been asked to recorded the drums…produce the drums…AND produce her vocals! Now, I will be honest, I’ve never really done this before but I was happy to take on the challenge and although I still have much to learn, I am happy with the part I played in the project.

It’s Still M.E – Kara Jane

Now this, I am very proud to have been a part of. In May, I saw a story on BBC news about a young lady called Kara who is bed-bound as she suffers from severe M.E. I was even more moved to read that she was pleading for help to finish her album…so back to Facebook we go. I offered to help and I am so so glad I did. I was asked to play on a song called “Silence is Cheaper” and when I received the demo, I was amazed at the emotion and just sheer passion from Kara’s vocals and got to work.

Now my part was over fairly quickly and so began the months of waiting to the point I forgot I did it! I had been chatting to Kara’s producer, Liam Hicks, and he sent me a finished version of the track and I couldn’t believe my ears! Never have I played on something that sounds so huge and epic…and to top it off, at the time of me writing this (10/08/2020), Kara’s album currently sits at Number 20 in the iTunes album chart and Number 2 in the Amazon Best Sellers Chart beating Taylor Swift!!!

This is the part where you can help. Kara’s mission is to raise £100,000 for The ME Association. This can be done by buying the album or donating directly to her Just Giving page (Click Here). I know it’s a tough time but please, dig deep and help this fantastic cause.

As always, I do love to hear for you guys so remember to hit me up on all my social media. Until next time x

New Year!!!

Happy New Year!

Now we have got that out the way, I can jump straight in. Firstly, I would like to talk about my teaching services and I am pleased to announce that 2 of my students went in for their exams and, as all my students seems to do, aced it! My Grade 1 student managed to get a Distinction and my Grade 4 student got a Merit and was only a few marks shy of a Distinction himself! Needless to say, these 2 young men have really gone all out and it has really paid off!

If any of you reading this are thinking of taking up lessons, sign up today by clicking here.

As always, the performing side of what I do is getting busier and busier as the first month of the year flies by and I am getting ready to start working with Hugo Valentine. I first met Hugo about a year ago and fate has brought us back together and I am really excited to be apart of his live outfit. Do keep an eye out for some upcoming dates so you can come and have a look for your self!

Last year, was an amazing year for me on all levels of what I do as a musician. It of course had highs and lows but I wouldn’t change a single moment of it. One of the biggest highlights came towards the end of the year as I played on my first Pantomime! Naturally, I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was meant with the friendliest cast, the most incredible tech crew and an incredible band which made my December nothing but fun! The company, Starburst, are a charity who help special needs children by funding specialist equipment for them. This is a beautiful charity full of beautiful people who do everything they can to help others and they certainly deserve all the support they can get. I highly suggest you have a look at the amazing work you do for yourself!

The last show with the boys!

Please do keep coming back as there is a lot of exciting stuff coming up with new artists and ones I’ve been working with for a while!

I have made a promise to my self that I will post more often so I can keep everyone up to date with what is going on and as always, your feedback and questions are welcomed.

Until next time!

Rebecca Riedtmann

Over the past few months, I have been working in the studio and live with the incredibly talented Rebecca Riedtmann.

I have played quite a few shows with Rebecca now and really found my place in her sound, so much so that I feature on her new album, “Not All Who Wonder Have Lost Their Way”. It’s an exciting a refreshing mix of Country, Americana and Swampy Blues.

I was lucky enough to play on the tracks “Closer” (Click here for the live version) and “Where The Darkness Lies”. Both tracks are very different and proved to be a challenge to get the part right for the song.

I am also really happy to announce I will be playing for Rebecca at her album pre-launch on the 16th August at 229 in London. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for when the tickets go on sale!

February 2018 – Update

Well the start to my year has been beyond manic! Lots of new students and even more old faces. My teaching work has been a massive focus over the past few months which has seen me head up the Band Academy at The Rock and Pop Foundation. Day 1 comes, and none of these kids have EVER performed in a band…by Day 4 (The Performance Day), all of them got up there and totally rocked it! As a tutor, I do get these moments of pure pride and this really was one of them!

I have also been travailing all over the country with Noble Jacks as part of their very busy touring schedule. Recently, we have been supporting The Eskies, who I strongly recommend you go and check out! Although it was a short tour with them, there were an awful lot of laughs and I felt very lucky to be a part of it.

Sadly, all good things must come to an end. Due to conflicting schedules and various other reasons, my time with Noble Jacks is at its end. I am of course massively upset that we have to take this action but it is all for the greater good for both parties. I wish the boys the best of luck on their upcoming tour and wish the the best of luck with all their future endeavours.

Do stay tuned everyone as I do have a few tricks up my sleeve.

Til then xx

November is coming!

November is fast approaching and there is a lot going on!

After weeks of being sat on my hands wanting to say that I will be joining Noble Jacks on tour hasn’t been easy, but now I can say I WILL BE JOING NOBLE JACKS ON TOUR THIS NOVEMBER! After attending an audition for them a few weeks ago, and finding out they wanna use me for the 2nd half of the tour, I have been buzzing with excitement! Please do go and check out my tour dates and buy your self some tickets and come and say hi!

Also, at the beginning of November, I will be performing with The Go Go Five at Jagz! Tickets are on sale now and you should definitely come and have a laugh and enjoy some great food and music!

What a summer its been…

Hello everyone and what a summer it has been!

I have had to deal with many challenges over the past few months, ones I would have never of seen as a challenge. Turns out, doing weddings every weekend and then working on original material in the week as well as trying to stream as often as i can is not as easy as it may seem! But, boy have I had a blast!

One of my biggest highlights was headlining the Showcase stage (Sponsored by Radweb) with Ben Pryer. It was a truly amazing experience from the second we arrived on site!

I am also able to annonce some upcomming dates with two of my bands. First off, on the 3rd September, The Go Go Five and I shall be performing at the Jazz Day at the Brickmakers (Click here for info).

And now for a debut. Those of you who follow my social media will know there is a band I’ve been putting together for the best part of a year now and well…they are ready to get out there and bring the place down. The Fever will be performing at the Hogs Back Hop Party on the 23rd September (Click here for info) and tickets are available now!

April & May Updates

Hello again everyone,

Sorry it has been a while but there has been a lot I wanted to talk about but I haven’t been aloud to disclose much…until now.

So the big thing that will be obvious to you guys if you follow me on twitter (if not click here) is that I am now working with the immensely talented Ben Pryer. Ben used to be apart of the Top 40 UK boy band M.A.D and is now on a solo venture to bring back the classic sounds of 1950’s Rock ‘n’ Roll with a modern twist. I will be featuring on his debut album playing on 2 of the songs, “Ball & Chain” and “The Change”. The album is out in a few months and I will keep you all posted with that along with some live dates.

In other happenings, The Thatchers and I have started our very very busy summer season of weddings and corporate events which is always fun. The season started with a 3 gig weekend including 2 dates at Battersea Power Station which was, quite frankly, surreal! It was quite a bizarre few days but was a lot of fun!

And before I go, please don’t forget to follow me on all my social media and to keep an eye on my live dates as there will be a lot of new ones being released soon!

Til next time xx

March Update

Why hello everyone! It’s been a while!

So lets jump straight in, as there is a lot going on that I would love to share with all of you.

Firstly, I was lucky enough to apear on a studio album recently playing some percussion. Smileys Friends – Eclectic. The beauty of this album is the amount of guest singers and boy, there are some nice names on there such as: Kerry Schultz, Owen Paul, John James Newman and Chesney Hawkes just to name a few. It really is worth a listen so please do go and get your self a copy! (Click Here)

Next up: The Thatchers! That’s right, we are back in rehearsals getting ready for a very busy summer season of weddings, party’s and various other functions and we are all very very excited to get back out there and make some people dance. We are hoping to get some pub or club gigs so you can come down and see us do our thing and come have a chat of course!

And finally, Chuck Chandler & The Go Go 5 are also back in action! After a few months of…well…not much, we were invited to perform a Rock ‘n’ Roll style jam consisting of a few songs. This has made us all want to get out there more and just play to all you lovely people and I am so happy to announce we have our first confirmed date! I can now also confirm that I am now an official member along side Ivan ‘Chuck’ Chandler and Jonathan McDonald, who are 2 of my favourite people to perform with.

Anyway, that is all for now. Please do watch this space and I will do my best to update you all as often as I can,

At the end of the month, I get the honour to perform once again with BAOS Limelight as they put on their production of Evita. I am so excited to get to play on this but a little scared at the same time.

The odd time signatures plus the beyond bizarre drum part is a total reading nightmare. I do tell my students that reading is everything and it really is! Being able to move from 5/4 into 3/4 then in 10/8 is no easy task when the tempo is on 58bpm in the opening tune!

I do highly recommend coming to see it as Limelight really are a really talented bunch! CLICK HERE to buy tickets but be quick, they are going fast!

I would love to know if you are coming so let me know bellow 🙂
